• Wait a bit.
• Get novacaine shots.
• Wait a bit more.
• Dentist starts drilling. It hurts.
• Get more novacaine shots.
• Wait quite a bit.
• Wait more.
• Dentist finally shows up again.
• Still hurts, but not as much.
• Dentist finishes.
• Go shopping for pants.

Interesting story - I like the spare, clean lines; the terse narrative brutally exposing the bare nerve, as it were, of the action. The reader feels the trepidation, feels the nervous anticipation and finally sighs in relief at the denouement.

The ending, however, is a bit of a non sequitur.
