Final Crisis #2

OK, that's much better. So many funky details to ponder:

  • Page 1-3: Heroism replaced with coolness. The decline of the power of good.
  • Page 4: Sonny Sumo (or his descendant) returns. He asks for ice water... why is he warm?
  • Pages 7-8: Sonny is scarred all of a sudden. A real face being revealed?
  • Page 9: A former Seven Soldier is recruiting a secret team. History repeating itself?
  • Page 12, Panel 4: Turpin looks like he has cracked skin, like hes made of stone
  • Page 23: OK, now Granny is scary, And we get confirmation of "New God as parasite/symbiote".
  • Page 24: Atomic Knights = Hunger Dog cavalry?
  • Page 25: "Your son". Did Dark Side plant a dark seed in Dan Turpin? The last panel suggests the answer is "yes"
  • Page 31: Barry Allen, chasing a poison bullet back through time, with Death at his heels. Is there a better way for a Flash to return?
The primary weapons of the Apokoliptan approach appear to be despair and corruption, as opposed to brute force. That's a hard weapon for a hero to fight.  But the New Genisites planted a different, brighter seed, in folks like Shilo and Sonny Sumo. Is Sonny Orion's host? Or are these mortals touched by the divine destined to be the gods of the Fifth World?

A lot to think about, but I'm on board for issue #3.
